MainLinefreunde is the meeting place where people of all generations and backgrounds can meet to experience, promote and cultivate the German language and culture together. We are more than a school – we are a community with the aim of promoting character development, education and intercultural understanding.
In our weekly lessons, German is learned, experienced and promoted holistically, with all the senses. Our young learners will deepen their language skills, make friends and gain a new love for the German language through the lively and varied language and game offerings. Our experienced, German-speaking teachers support our children in their linguistic development in our small groups.
Age Groups
Spielkreis: 0 to 3 Years
In our Spielkreis, we play, sing, do crafts and listen to stories – all in German! Our youngest children are supported in our Spielkreis by a parent or guardian. Our Spielkreis offers young and old a place to meet each other and share the love for the German language and culture.
Cost: $60 per Semester

Mäusekinder: 3 to 4 Years
The children in our Mäusekinder group sing songs and do crafts. Movement and skill games, role play and theater games, along with dance, listening to and telling stories, are the cornerstones of successful, holistic learning. Old and new friendships motivate the children to use the German language. Our seasonal curriculum offers the opportunity to learn to appreciate the traditions of German and American culture.
Cost: $300 per Semester

Rasselbande: 4 to 6 Years
Our Rasselbande group is specifically supported in their linguistic development and slowly introduced to contact with written language. The first reading and writing takes place using the initial sound table and is based on the children’s world.
Our children sing songs and do crafts. Movement and skill games, role play and theater games, along with dance, listening to and telling stories, are the cornerstones of successful, holistic learning. Old and new friendships motivate the children to use the German language.

Schlaubären: 7 to 10 Years
Our Schlaubären, the younger school-aged children, increasingly get to know the written German language. They discover the German phonemes and graphemes with the help of our “Anlauttabelle” in a child-friendly setting. Our main goal is for the children to use written and spoken German in their daily lives and to stay motivated to use the German language with their new friends. The learning doesn’t come at the expense of having fun, while doing crafts and games and fostering friend relationships.

Schulkinder: From 11 Years and up/ Teens
In the Schulkinder class, the school kids and teens will continue to discover the German language on an advanced level. Over time and as the learner’s abilities increase, the program curriculum becomes increasingly oriented towards academic and school principles. In that, the independent application of the German language is supported through small independent projects and presentations that are part of everyday teaching and learning. The classes are rounded up with playing games and building camaraderie amongst the children.
